The fourteenth Annual Oxford Sacred Harp Singing Day was held on Saturday before the fourth Sunday in June.  Chairman Sheila Girling Macadam called the class to order at 10:00 a.m. leading 34b, and Bernard Collard offered the opening prayer.  The following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman--Sheila Girling Macadam; Vice Chairman--Edwin Macadam; Secretaries--Sofi Mogensen and Nick Hall; Arranging Committee--Sheila Girling Macadam; Pitcher--Rachel Jordan; Chaplain--Bernard Collard.  Leaders: Edwin Macadam 84; Rachel Jordan 47t; Bernard Collard 63; Sofi Mogensen 31t; Joe Vickers 77b; Mandy Townsend 318; Nick Hall 217; Pat Keating 538; Steve Welch 73b; Dave Townsend 112; Ed Long 163t; Bruce Hayes 189; Duane Nasis 65; Claire Singleton 270; Sheila Girling Macadam 481; Bernard Collard 362; Edwin Macadam 550; Rachel Jordan 384; Nick Hall 455; Joe Vickers 472; Sofi Mogensen 276; Steve Welch 503; Mandy Townsend 203.

The afternoon session was brought to order by Edwin Macadam leading 291.  Leaders: Bernard Collard 49b; Joe Vickers 131t; Pat Keating 377; Nick Hall 497; Mandy Townsend 147t; Rachel Jordan 330b.  Bernard Collard conducted the memorial lesson, with Kezia Reed reading the names of the following: Tristan Mirabaud--Lewes; Jan Fairley--Edinburgh; Georgie Chitty--Billericay; Ingrid Fabricius--Denmark; Reginald Girling--Cambuslang, Glasgow; Gladys Girling--Cambuslang, Glasgow; Earl Scruggs--USA; Dave Parry--East Hanney; and Ben Green--Coleford.  Sheila Girling Macadam led 500 in their memory.  Bernard then asked the class if there was a phone call to be made, a letter to be written, a hospital visit to make for someone in need of support.  Joe Vickers read the names of the following sick and housebound: Elspeth Hannen--Amersham; Charlotte and Don Walker--Virginia; Dafydd Charles--Croydon; Richard Green--Stevenage; Ken Baddley--Bedford; and Ann Plant--Benthall.  Pat Keating led 107 and the memorial was closed.

The class resumed singing with Sofi Mogensen leading 312b.  Leaders: Steve Welch 473; Duane Nasis 106; Dave Townsend 299; Ed Long and Richard Makin 300; Wendy Stone 314; Bruce Hayes 198; Adrian Bolge 68b; Sheila Girling Macadam 454; Edwin Macadam 236; Rachel Jordan 269; Bernard Collard 474; Sofi Mogensen 148.


The final session commenced with Nick Hall leading 28t.  Leaders: Joe Vickers 425; Dilwyn Scott 40; Mandy Townsend 313b; Steve Welch 287; Ed Long 532; Duane Nasis 335; Wendy Stone 528; Adrian and Matthew Bolge 370; Dave Townsend 217; Pat Keating 146; Edwin Macadam 268; Bruce Hayes 280; Sheila Girling Macadam 282.  Announcements were made and invitations extended to other Sacred Harp singing events around the country.  Sheila Girling Macadam and Edwin Macadam thanked all the officers, committees, and anyone who helped in any way to make this singing possible, and led 347 as the closing song.  Bernard Collard offered the closing prayer, after which the class was dismissed.
