The 14th Sussex Shape Note singing was held in Staplefield Village Hall, using the Sacred Harp (1991 edition) and Alternative Harmony, a booklet of other shape note tunes. The class was called to order by the co-chairmen Tony Singleton and Jill Thompson leading 276. The memorial and sick and housebound lessons were combined into a remembrance lesson conducted by Jill Thompson. Jill led 178 in memory of: Mabs Warne, Daisy Osborne, Maria Cunningham, Lisbeth Poulsen, Joe Reynolds, Betty Appleby, Bert Finch; and for the sick and housebound:  Jacqui Selby-Macleod, Fiona Green, Dafydd Charles, Jon Lusk, Jan Fairley, Steve and Mary Welch, Lionel Wollenberg, Alice Parnell, Bernard Collard, Cath Saunt, Jane Davies, Dave Cooper. The memorial was closed.

Jill Thompson called the class to order leading 267. The Secretary reported that 29 people had registered and 69 songs had been sung. Thanks were extended and announcements made. It was noted that the 2013 Sussex Shape Note singing would be held on Saturday, 9 March, 2013.  Jill Thompson and Tony Singleton led 347 as the closing song and the class was dismissed.
