Monthly Local and House Singings


The best way of learning about this type of music is to experience it first hand. This can be done either at regular singing days organised around the country, or by going to local singing groups, usually held monthly in churches, halls and  people's houses. Usually informal, these are a great way to learn or 'workshop' new pieces, and are open to anyone who would like to attend. Some have their own websites.

NB:  The MSN maps currently available do not give a great deal of detail, thus the Google or the Multimap references are preferable.

BELFAST SACRED HARP SINGING


A monthly evening singing takes place in Newtown Breda (St John's) Presbyterian Church, 374-378 Ormeau Road, Belfast BT7 3HX on Sundays from 7.30 pm to 9.30pm.

CULLOMPTON (mULBERRY hOUSE)


A monthly evening singing takes place at Cullompton, Devon, on the third Friday in each month, except August, 7.30 pm for 7.45 pm to 10.00 pm.

A Fifth Sunday singing
to sing songs from both the Sacred Harp and other shape note collections is held in Cullompton, 2.30 pm for 2.45 pm to 6.00 pm. 2019 singings will be on Sunday 31 March, Sunday 30 June, Sunday 29 September and Sunday 29 December.

IPPLEPEN

A monthly evening singing takes place at Ipplepen Methodist Church, East Street, Ipplepen, TQ12 5SU, on the fourth Tuesday in each month, from 7.00 pm - 9.00 pm. Singing from the Sacred Harp (Denson edition) and from the Shenandoah Harmony.
