The ninth Annual Oxford Sacred Harp Singing Day was held on Saturday before the fourth Sunday in June.  Chairman Edwin Macadam called the class to order at 10:00 a.m. leading 40, and Ken Baddley offered the opening prayer.  The following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman--Edwin Macadam; Secretary/Arranging Committee--Sheila Girling Macadam; Chaplains--Ken Baddley and Bernard Collard; Sheila Girling Macadam welcomed the class and led 28t. Leaders: Rachel Jordan 36b; Tony Singleton 31t; Steve Fletcher 29t; Ken Baddley 34b; Mandy Townsend 72b; Nick Hall 515; Helen Brown 217; Dave Townsend 282; Bernard Collard 362; Margaret Gillanders 503; Ian West 32t; Ted Brown 33b; Adrian Bolge 155; Edwin Macadam 272; Sheila Girling Macadam 191; Rachel Jordan 501; Tony Singleton 504; Steve Fletcher 171; Stephen Biggs 178; Ken Baddley 192; Mandy Townsend 203.

RECESS

Nick Hall called the class back to order leading 497. LUNCH

The afternoon session was brought to order by Tony Singleton leading 496. Leaders: Ted Brown 327; Edwin Macadam 350.

Bernard Collard conducted the memorial lesson, and Sheila Girling Macadam led 122 for the following: Don Davis, Michael Clarke, Cyril Walker, Barry Callaghan, Mary Ballinger (Texas), Vera Ross and Mike Moissinac. The sick and housebound were recalled by Ken Baddley, who led 27 for the following: Hélène La Rue, Carol Gardiner, Rachael Baddley, Amanda Denson-Alabama, Maureen Gamlin, Phil Goodwin, Sarah Pinney, Gaenor Kyffin, Susan Knight and John Hayto.  The memorial was closed.

RECESS

The class resumed singing with Mandy Townsend leading 186.  Leaders: Rachel Jordan 528; Adrian Bolge 156; Steve Fletcher 273; Linda Reed 448; Stephen Biggs 228; Ken Baddley 481; Nick Hall 45; Jill Thompson 99; Bernard Collard 49b; Margaret Gillanders 510; Ian West 300; Helen Brown 384; Richard Percival 268; Sheila Girling Macadam and James Percival 299; Mike Toni 148; Edwin Macadam and Jan Green 236.

RECESS

The final session commenced with Helen Brown leading 455. Leaders: Dave Townsend 198; Steve Fletcher 128; Nick Hall 276; Mandy Townsend 208; Ted Brown 87; Jill Thompson 344; Bernard Collard 287; Tony Singleton 277; Rachel Jordan 475; Ken Baddley 323. Announcements were made and invitations extended to other Sacred Harp singing events around the country.  Edwin Macadam and Sheila Girling Macadam thanked all the officers, committees, and anyone who helped in any way to make this singing possible, and led 347 as the closing song. Ted Brown offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
